Richard, thank you for bringing me back to the days of dial-up. When I was choosing my three most important technologies I placed my computer as the most influential technology in my life. However, now that I have read your blog and you've reminded me of the days before wifi, I'm not sure that the computer would make the top of my list. When my family first got our computer I would say the internet worked maybe 50% of the time (if I was lucky) because there was always an issue with dial-up. First of all it took what seemed like hours to connect to the internet and once it did the phone didn't work!
You also bring up another valuable point: the video we watched is four years old. In terms of technology, four years is a century. One of the students mentions being attached to his iPod, these days iPods have almost been completely replaced with iPhones.
I agree with you, technology is the way to go in terms of education. Being able to log on to Blackboard anywhere at anytime to check assignments, watch videos, or read an article has changed our entire college experience. Take this class for example, this wouldn't be possible if there weren't so many advances in technology.
